Soft Rubber®

The gentle alternative to the conventional toothbrush.

Soft Rubber Dr. Boehm GmbH Nürnberg.

Toothbrushes develop their cleaning effect through bristles. The harder the bristles, the better the cleaning of the tooth surface. Faster cleaning movements and increased pressure of the brush on the surface also result in better cleaning.

However, this increases the scratchy and abrasive effect on enamel and especially on softer dentin.

With regular use, grooves and notches are created. The gums are also injured more quickly. In order to reach the areas between the teeth with a conventional toothbrush, the pressure must be increased even further. A small part of the bristles present on the brush head can slide into an intermediate space, whereby a cleaning effect can only be slight there. The vast majority of bristles bend badly, with the risk of tooth abrasion or damage to the gums.

The toothpaste does not play a particularly important role in cleaning the teeth as described above. It is pushed back and forth by the bristles and distributed and quickly thins in the oral cavity. Ingredients of toothpaste, such as abrasives, fluorides, etc. can only develop their positive effect on the tooth to a very limited extent. Strontium salts, which are intended to seal open dentinal tubules, as found in some pastes, cannot be pressed onto the surface, just as other active substances contained in the pasta. Between the bristles, which are circular in cross section, there are many niches in which bacteria and viruses can settle. Cleaning between the bristles is almost impossible.

Special techniques do not have to be learned. For a thorough cleaning of the teeth, however, at least 3 minutes should be planned for with the soft rubber and an additional 3 minutes should be planned for the interdental brush and dental floss.

The patented soft rubber according to DR.BOEHM is a combination device made up of three components:

  1. The cleaning body made of special foam is located at the head of the handle.
  2. The interdental brush is attached to the rear end of the handle.
  3. The dental floss holder is also at the end of the handle.

  • Hygienic, as no germs can penetrate into the inner closed chambers.
  • No abrasion with grooves or notches in the enamel or dentin.
  • No risk of injury to the gums.
  • Optimized pocket cleaning using the suction-pressure method.
  • Gentle rubbing in of medication.
  • Gentle cleaning of wound areas after surgery.
  • Simultaneous use of the foam on two surfaces.
  • Reducible head size by cutting off one side.
  • Easy replacement of the foam head.
  • Space and cost saving combination device.
  • Floss handling without fingers in the mouth.
  • International standards (EEC, FDA)

The structure of the cleaning and care head:

The foam has self-contained chambers and is therefore not absorbent. Its elasticity and flexibility allow it to be deposited on the tooth surface over a large area. The foam is a biologically inert material. The head is interchangeable! The outermost layer of the cells is cut and half open. Designed in this way, the foam is not used directly as a cleaning agent, but rather as a carrier for the tooth cleaning agent, e.g. B. toothpaste or powder or a drug.

For this reason it does not make sense to first fill the open chambers with water and then apply toothpaste.

The desired agent should therefore always be applied to a dry foam. By means of the outer half-open chambers, it is possible to press the toothpaste onto the tooth surface with circular brushing movements. The contact between the pasta and the tooth is very intimate, so that the fine abrasive particles in the pasta provide excellent smoothing of the tooth surface.

All other ingredients, such as B. Fluorides can work better through the pressure. Such extensive intensive contact is also desirable when massaging the gums.

In the space between the tooth and the gum, the so-called gingival pocket, there is a suction-pump effect, which results in gentle cleaning.

Replacement of the Dobble-foam head:

The foam head of the soft tubber is replaceable. You hold one side of the foam and pull it out of the holder with gentle force. To use a new foam, it should be moistened with water in order to achieve better sliding properties.

With the prongs in the direction of the opening of the holder and at a slight angle to the handle axis, it is then pressed through the rectangular opening with finger force until the foam pokes out evenly on both sides.

After a few hours, the foam is stored and is also adequately held in place by the wedge in the ring. If the head is felt to be too big overall, one side can be cut off with scissors (after storage).

The hold of the head in the ring is not affected.

Interdental brushes:

Small, pointed brushes are ideal for cleaning the spaces between the teeth or other niches. In order to be able to clean interdental spaces better, the soft rubber has such a brush at the end of the handle. Other hard-to-reach places in the mouth, such as under a fixed pontic, they are easier to clean.

The brush can be inserted from two opposite sides through an opening in the handle. You push the T-shaped brush end into the circular hole on one side and then turn it 90 degrees to the right or left. In this way the brush is clamped.

To remove, the process is reversed.

Handling with the floss:

Dental floss is best for cleaning interdental spaces.

You need about 40 cm of the tooth side.

The silk is held 5 cm from the end of the handle with the thumb.

The other end of the silk should be pulled under tension through the furthest notch in the handle.

Then the silk is pulled twice through the two notches on the side and threaded through the hole.

The soft rubber is not suitable for independent use by small children under 3 years of age.
